Scientific Applications on Linux
SAL has a page describing lots of free, shareware and commercial EDA software for Linux. As a supplement to my feeble attempt to keep up with their excellent page, we'll just point you there.
CAD Software
- Electronics Optimizer is a tool for analyzing and optimizing analog circuits. It appears to be in Beta at the moment, and intends to become commercial software on 2005.
- linux.org's big list of free CAE software
- Ocean Logic has made available a free VHDL to Verilog translator, released under the GPL.
- Al's Circuit Simulator, aka ACS: a general purpose circuit simulator. There is an online manual here.
- Alliance CAD suite: Alliance is a complete set of free CAD tools and portable libraries for VLSI design. It includes a VHDL compiler and simulator, logic synthesis tools, and automatic place and route tools. Advanced verification tools for functional abstraction and static timing analysis are part of the system. A complete set of portable CMOS libraries is provided, including a RAM generator, a ROM generator and a data-path compiler.
